When calories burned is an important indicator for you, separate the activities by day.
Then, you can visually see how many calories you burn by a given activity. We want the most bang for our buck – less wasted time.
By analyzing each different activity, we have new information that can allows us to either:
- Maintain = rinse and repeat the same exercise
- Modify = change a critical variable in that program; movement, duration, or magnitude
- Remove = take that routine out of your training program
Each new workout functions as a mini-experiment to help you determine if you are trending towards your goals. Over time, those experiments paint the picture with data!
In this example, the client may want to continue performing indoor cycling, individualized supersets combined with running, and traditional strength training.
The strategy used in this image is called a multi-element design; it allows you to see these differences between various training conditions.
Blank days represent non-exercise days.
